David, a scientist at Lawrence Berkeley Lab, is active in local peak oil groups and was one of the four members of San Francisco Oil Awareness who approached the San Francisco Board of Supervisors about passing a peak oil Resolution. It passed in April 2006, the first of its kind in a major American city.
