The Diablo Post Carbon Study Group (Contra Costa County, California) has the following goals:
Short Term:
- Educate ourselves about Peak Oil. Try to find the "answers" that work for us as a community (our answers).
- Connect with other groups, both those working on this exact issue and those who are likely to be interested.
Medium-Term:
- Become a resource for the community, providing information, inspiration, and models of community solutions.
Long Term:
- Become politically active, lobbying local, state and national agencies to make changes that prepare us for a post-carbon world and encourage sustainability.
An undercurrent running through all this work is that we will be learning how to build a true community, a close-knit group that uses its complex and deep relationships to provide resilience and innovation in solving unforeseen problems.
